Ask AP529 | Episode 4: Is tiketX Teasing a j-hope Tour?

Welcome to Ask AP529 where YOU get to utilize OUR brain wrinkles to find answers to your most burning BTS questions. This question comes from @Li_ of the AP529 Discord Server. She asks:

Is the Tweet by tiketX teasing a j-hope tour?

Answer: Maybe.

I mentioned this tweet in my Morning MUSE-ings on June 26, 2024, but it was just a passing wondering I had with all the other BTS stuff swirling around that week. Jimin dropped his album release schedule and then Taehyung swooped in right behind him with Type 1 and knocked us all on our asses. He took away what little breath we had left after Jimin’s teeny tiny waist showed up in his MUSE promo pics.

At first glance, I knew exactly what it was. But it was early in the morning, and I questioned myself and some friends in a group chat. “Is this Ego Hobi?” I inquired. The response was groggy. It was early. “Maybe?” was one reply. Well that question mark was enough to send me to YouTube to find it myself. Remember, it was early and I don’t do mornings well. I discovered that it IS absolutely from the official music video for “Outro: Ego” and here was the screenshot I took to prove it.

The original tweet was a blip on the radar of most, but some people picked up on it. Someone—a credible source I trust—said it was the same ticket company that had handled Bruno Mars’ most recent concerts. I didn’t do any further research because I was too consumed with my Jimin and Taehyung panic and with making an edit of Quince’s latest meltdown (which brought me some solace).

But back to the question…

What I found in my search is that tiketX is a legit ticketing company (they have an Instagram account, too) that not only handled Bruno Mars’ concerts, but also those of Enhypen and several other large K-Pop groups. Someone provided this image for me, speculating on a Hobi Tour, but I didn’t like the source. It’s a tabloid and in my search for the original to download (or screenshot) it wasn’t there. So, did they delete it? (My mind is always full of questions.) Scrolling through some of the X posts, some were articles, but most were just click-bait headlines designed to stir up excited ARMYs and other K-Pop stans. So that was a dead end.

So, here’s the thing about tiketX. All the concerts are in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Australia. I have seen other social media posts from people hoping for a j-hope world tour. If tiketX is indeed teasing a concert, all we can hope for right now is an Asian concert based in Malaysia or Indonesia. (Remember, this was just one tweet from an Asian ticket broker.) I’m not saying it can't/won’t happen, but let’s not be premature about a WORLD tour. This teaser could be significant, but also probably isn’t. By all means, let your delulu run wild, but also keep facts in the corner of your brain. (Or a friend who reality checks you. Do you have one of those? I have a Riven.)

What we can learn from this little hunt:

  • ALWAYS LOOK FOR PRIMARY SOURCES

  • If someone is posting a screenshot, look for the date and timestamp and go to that source. Who and when are very important.

Don’t trust tabloid sites who only use click-bait headings to rile you up.

  • tiketX is a ticketing agency, but it only operates in a few locations. Remembering that is important here.

  • Hobi might be doing a concert when he returns!! The key word is “MIGHT”.

Questions I still have:

  • If there is a concert, and only in Asia, will it be streamed like Yoongi’s concert? Will I-Lovelies have access to it?

  • When would this happen? How soon?

  • Could this lead to tours from OTHER members too?

  • Will Ticketmaster still be a colossal pain in our “Jibooties”?

  • Will he do more festivals like Lollapalooza?

But for now, enjoy j-hope’s “Outro: Ego”
